Apple brings priority notifications to iPhone with iOS 18.4: Here’s how to enable it | Technology News

Apple is testing another AI powered feature called “Prioritize Notifications”, which the company says can help show important notifications in a separate section on the Lock Screen.

Available on iOS 18.4 Beta 1, the new feature uses Apple’s on-device intelligence to flag important notifications and shows them in a separate section of the Lock Screen placed on top of other notifications. While iOS normally sorts notifications based on time, with the newest alerts positioned at the top, the new feature places what it thinks are important alerts regardless of how old they are.

In case you are wondering, this is similar to Apple’s new Mail app’s priority mail feature, which also places certain notifications at the top of the inbox. However, the new feature is disabled by default, so you will have to dig into the Settings app to turn it on. If you are already running iOS 18.4 Beta 1, open the ‘Settings’ app on your iPhone, tap on ‘Notifications’ and find and turn on the feature named “Prioritize Notifications”.

Apart from the aforementioned feature, iOS 18.4 will also bring support for 10 new languages including French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese. Korean and Chinese. Also, Apple said it might delay Siri’s much anticipated AI upgrades to iOS 18.5. Earlier this month, Apple started rolling out the iOS 18.3 update, which brought improvements to Visual Intelligence and disabled AI summaries for the News app.
