Meta’s new limited-edition Coperni Ray-Ban smart glasses blend fashion and tech | Technology News

Meta really wants you to believe that its Ray-Ban smart glasses are not just a tech product but a fashion accessory. Its latest collaboration with French luxury fashion house Coperni hints that the company is very much interested in making its smart glasses a high-fashion accessory, like a designer bag or stiletto heels, in the hope of reaching a market beyond tech-savvy consumers.
At Coperni’s Fall/Winter 2025 fashion show during Paris Fashion Week this week, Meta introduced the limited-edition Ray-Ban Meta x Coperni glasses. The glasses feature the standard Ray-Ban Wayfarer frames but in a transparent black shade, with the Coperni logo and gray mirror lenses. Meta is producing only 3,600 pairs of the glasses, which will be available for $549. The limited-edition smart glasses cost more than the regular Meta Ray-Bans, which start at $299.
The Ray-Ban Meta x Coperni glasses aren’t any different from the standard Ray-Bans, meaning they still have the same AI features, capture content with their built-in camera and microphone, and allow you to listen to audio with their open-ear speakers. You are paying more for the Coperni branding.
Coperni, a high-fashion French label, is known for experimenting with technology in its clothing and accessories. In recent years, the brand—founded by Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant—has doubled down on merging fashion with technology. “French, sexy, sci-fi” is how Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer would describe their brand. With Bella Hadid’s viral spray-on dress, the CD Player Swipe Bag, and emojis turned into clothes, Coperni effortlessly bridges everyday tech with luxury fashion.
With the Ray-Ban glasses, Meta seems to be going all-in on wearable technology. The company has found success through smart glasses, although its much-publicised ambition with the metaverse and VR didn’t pan out as initially hoped. Smart glasses have the potential to become a “very important computing platform in the future,” according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The smart glasses, though still small, have seen growth in the past few months. Meta remains the biggest player. EssilorLuxottica, which produces smart glasses for Meta, has publicly revealed that 2 million pairs of Meta Ray-Bans have been sold since their October 2023 debut, and it’s targeting to produce 10 million Meta glasses each year by the end of 2026.

While Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses continue to be the entry point into Zuckerberg’s ambition to lead in the next wave of platforms that will succeed smartphones, the company is already working on advanced AR glasses called Orion, a project nearly a decade in the making. Zuckerberg revealed Orion late last year. Meta is also reportedly developing Oakley-branded smart glasses for athletes this year, which may help bring smart glasses to a whole new set of consumers.
