MWC 2025: Qualcomm unveils Dragonwing and showcases agentic AI on Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered devices | Technology News

On Monday, at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Qualcomm unveiled a new sub-brand—Dragonwing—aimed at providing enterprise solutions.
“The name Dragonwing and its stylised dragon icon symbolize ascension, power, and acceleration. The brand’s colour palette includes an influential purple, which fuses Qualcomm’s innovative blue and Snapdragon’s bold red. Together, Dragonwing and Snapdragon create a strong, purpose-built portfolio, strengthening our leadership in both consumer and industrial segments,” said Don McGuire, Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer, Qualcomm Technologies, in a press statement.
Qualcomm also teased on-device agentic AI experiences on smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, enabling users to interact autonomously with services like music, maps, weather, and SMS responses, along with support for cross-app functionality.

While the Snapdragon brand will continue to focus on end-consumer products such as mobile, gaming, and wearables, Dragonwing will cater to industries and businesses by offering networking and embedded solutions.
Qualcomm also unveiled the X85 5G Modem-RF, capable of delivering peak download speeds of up to 12.5 Gbps, with support for sub-6 GHz and mmWave, along with 4G IoT modems featuring iSIM support.
Additionally, Qualcomm announced the launch of the Dragonwing Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Gen 4 Elite Platform, powered by the X85 5G Modem-RF, offering long-range networking performance, AI-powered traffic classification, and on-device smart network selection to deliver class-leading Wi-Fi performance.
With an integrated NPU capable of up to 40 TOPs of AI performance, the Dragonwing Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Gen 4 Elite Platform utilizes AI for signal optimization, traffic classification, and network anomaly detection.
