MWC 2025: Intel expands Core Ultra (Series 2) processors to commercial AI PCs | Technology News
On Wednesday, at the Mobile World Congress 2025, Intel announced the launch of the Intel Core Ultra 200U, 200H, 200HX, and 200S series of processors, expanding its Core Ultra (Series 2) processors to commercial AI PCs. Workstations equipped with these chips will feature vPro branding along with enhanced security, stability, and premium connectivity features.
“2025 is a pivotal year for PC refresh, and with Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors, we’re delivering the most advanced commercial systems to date. Our AI PC processors cater to every form factor, from thin-and-light productivity devices to high-performance workstations,” said David Feng, vice president of the client computing group and general manager of client segments at Intel, in a press statement.
Commercial PCs powered by the Intel Core Ultra 200V series are available for purchase now, while PCs based on the Core Ultra 200U, 200H, 200HX, and 200S series will begin shipping by the end of March.
According to Intel, the new Core Ultra 7 265H, when compared to the four-year-old Intel Core i7-1185G7—typically the lifecycle of a commercial PC—offers 2.84x higher multicore performance in Cinebench 2024, up to 1.39x faster performance in Procyon office productivity tests, and up to 1.97x faster video editing performance.
The company also introduced the Intel Assured Supply Chain (ASC) programme, a specialised client system-on-chip (SoC) solution designed to provide greater visibility and assurance in the silicon manufacturing process. This initiative ensures a digitally attested chain of custody for each chip, adding transparency and reliability to the silicon supply chain. This will give assurance to the ecosystem partners, help them avoid financial losses and reputation damage, and will help mitigate counterfeit-related hardware risks.
This programme will be initially available for commercial mobile and desktop SKUs, and the first set of products with the ASC certification will ship in the second half of 2025, which can be identified by the letter “A” at the end of the processor brand string.
